A website for a print and design service, www.precisionprint.co.uk, stated "Award Winning print and marketing company servicing the Peeblesshire area, including Peebles Innerleithen, West Linton ... If you require graphic design in Peeblesshire, then our in-house team of designers can create stunning designs to your requirements ...".
Issue
The complainant, who understood that the advertiser was based in Swansea, challenged whether the ad was misleading because it suggested that the company was local to Peeblesshire.

Precision Print Ltd (Precision Print) acknowledged receipt of the complaint but declined to provide a substantive response to our enquiries.
Assessment

The ASA considered that the claims "Printing in Innerleithen", "... servicing the Peeblesshire area, including Peebles Innerleithen" and "If you require graphic design in Peeblesshire ..." implied that the company was local to Peeblesshire. We understood that this was not the case and, in the absence of a response to explain otherwise, concluded that the claims were misleading.
The ad breached CAP Code (Edition 12) rules 3.1 and 3.3 (Misleading advertising).
Action
The ad must not appear again in its current form. We told Precision Print Ltd not to imply that they were local to an area if they were not.
