ASA consumer conference in Manchester on 17 November
24 October 2004

Delegates at last year's ASA Consumer Conference
Parents, teachers, students, community workers, religious leaders, local businesses or any individuals working in the field of consumer protection and advocacy are invited to join the ASA for a free, half-day event in Manchester on 17 November.
The purpose of the morning is to hear people’s views on advertising today and explain how the ASA works, enabling the general public to meet the faces behind the authority including Chairman Lord Borrie QC and Director-General Christopher Graham. Part of the session will take the form of an interactive workshop, where conference attendees can try their hand at judging various advertising campaigns against the advertising Codes.
The ASA’s Annual Consumer Conference is an invaluable way for the Authority to keep in touch with what consumers think and how attitudes towards advertising may be changing. This is especially important at the moment when the subjects of child obesity and under-age drinking are constantly hitting the headlines, putting food and drinks advertising in the spotlight.
The event will take place at Urbis in Cathedral Gardens, Manchester, M4 3BG. It kicks off at 9.00 am with registration and coffee, finishing up with a complimentary lunch at the Urbis café at 1pm.
