New ASA Policy Advisor
20 December 2004
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has appointed a new Policy Advisor, Lynsay Taffe. Lynsay joins the ASA following the launch of the ‘one-stop shop’ for advertising complaints, a move which will see all-media policy issues becoming of increasing relevance.
Lynsay will be responsible for liaising with and advising the ASA Director General, Christopher Graham on key policy matters and closely monitoring UK and European Government issues relating to advertising regulation. With new legislative changes and proposals, such as the Government Health White Paper, having direct consequences on advertising regulation, Lynsay will play a crucial role in ensuring the work of the ASA is understood and promoted effectively to Government and the consumer. As well as maintaining positive and close working relationships with the industry, other regulators and stakeholders, Lynsay will respond to matters requiring consultation and comment both internally and externally. She will also work to promote the success of the self-regulatory system.
Lynsay joins from the public affairs consultancy Portcullis Public Affairs where she was an Account Manager. Her responsibilities included developing and executing Government relations campaigns and activities at all levels across Westminster, the regions and Europe.
Of Lynsay's appointment Christopher Graham says: "I am delighted to welcome Lynsay to the ASA. She will bring her extensive experience of policy issues and public affairs to this challenging and important role. It is imperative that the ASA is directly involved in debates on any changes in legislation that effect advertising regulation as well as working to maintain consumer confidence in what we do. Lynsay will ensure we achieve these aims on both fronts."
