New faces on ASA Council

There are two new faces on the ASA Council: James Best, who is Chief People and Strategic Officer at the ad agency DDB Worldwide and Sally Cartwright OBE, Director at Large at Hello Ltd, publishers of Hello, the celebrity news magazine.
There are two types of Council member; the independent members who are appointed to Council following public advertisement and industry representatives, who bring their expertise and knowledge of the advertising industry to the Council table. James and Sally are both industry members, appointed by ASA Chairman Lord Borrie.
James Best is Chairman of the DDB University and President of DDB’s Middle East, Africa and India Regions; roles that he is to give up shortly. He has previously served as Chairman of BMP DDB and is a past president of the Advertising Association. He is a Fellow and Council member the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising).
Sally Cartwright joined Hello Ltd! In 1990 as their Publishing Director, and became Director at Large last year. Before joining Hello she worked for IPC Magazines and Harmsworth Publications, part of Associated Newspapers.
James and Sally replace Dan O’Donoghue and Mike Ironside, who are both stepping down, having served the maximum of two three-year terms. James Best will be serving on both the broadcast and non-broadcast councils, while Sally Cartwright will be applying her knowledge to the non-broadcast council.
