Brexit - avoiding potential scams

We know there are many questions and uncertainties surrounding Brexit and what it will mean for consumers and business. As we wait to see what happens, we’re reminding consumers and businesses who have concerns about advertising related issues that nothing has changed. The advertising rules and legislation that underpins them and provide protections to consumer and businesses remain the same and will do so for the foreseeable future.

As such, we want to warn against potential Brexit scams. If someone tries to give you advice about Brexit, or you’re not sure about an issue related to Brexit, make sure that you check a trusted source of information. Do not give money or provide personal details.

To remove uncertainty, we’re directing people to the gov.uk website and in particular gov.uk/euexit where consumers can get official and credible information while small businesses can make use of information portals.
