Can you play a vital role in the regulation of TV and radio advertising?

We’re looking to appoint two new Members for BCAP’s Advertising Advisory Committee.

The Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) is the advertising industry body responsible for setting standards for television and radio advertisements under powers contracted-out to it by OFCOM, the UK’s communications regulator.

The Advertising Advisory Committee (AAC) gives informed, independent advice to BCAP on the formulation of rules and guidance related to the regulation of broadcast advertisements. It has six scheduled meetings a year and consists of a Chairman, the Chairman of BCAP, and Members who represent the interests of citizens and consumers. The Members participate as individuals and not as representatives of organisations or interests. Members must not have either present or recent past involvement with the marketing business.

We’re now looking to appoint two new Members to begin no later than 1 January 2018. Members will serve for a three-year period, which may be extended for another three years and receive a sum of £6,200 a year, plus expenses.

In selecting Members, the Chairman aims to achieve a balance and breadth of skills, backgrounds and experience on the Committee.

We welcome applications from candidates of any race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, from people with disabilities and from those who live or work in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Indeed, we welcome well qualified candidates of any age who are able to devote the necessary time to the work.

Start date:

No later than 1 January 2018
