Philip Circus, who joined CAP in 1977, will today attend his last meeting of the Sales Promotion and Direct Response Panel (SPDRP) which he has sat on since 1992 and which he has been Chair of since 2005.

Philip said; “I have enjoyed the job enormously and am very grateful to all those individuals from across the business, and within the secretariat, without whose support and intelligent commitment we could never have made such progress. ‘I am pleased and proud to have been able to play a key role within the system for such a long time and to have seen the system grow in stature and influence and become a model for self-regulation across the world’.

James Best, Chairman of the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP), said “Philip has been a vital contributor to the evolution of the self-regulatory system, helping to guide it successfully through changes in Government policy, pressure group campaigns and the rise of new media. Our industry has much to thank him for.”

The Sales Promotion and Direct Response Panel advises ASA and CAP on sales promotions and direct marketing matters to ensure they are right up to date with industry practice and processes; to both safeguard consumers and ensure industry practitioners are absolutely clear about how to run their promotions properly. The new Chairman of the Panel will be announced in due course.
