Summary of ASA ruling

Misleading advertising: BVS Ltd, trading as Tunit, breaks the UK Ad Rules with misleading claims their products can improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions on the website tunit.co.uk

The ASA investigated claims in a downloadable brochure entitled PERFORMANCE AND ECONOMY SOLUTIONS FOR ALL PETROL AND DIESEL CARS, 4x4s, COMMERCIAL AND AGRICULTURAL VEHICLES on the website tunit.co.uk

The ASA ruling found that claims relating to the Tunit Advantage engine modification devices, primarily that they could reduce fuel costs by 12% and harmful emissions by 27%, were misleading as they could not be supported by appropriate evidence.

In August 2019, following the publication of the ASA Ruling, BVS Ltd agreed to remove the investigated claims from their advertising and ensure that any other efficacy claims for their products could be supported by robust evidence.

Following instruction from the CAP Compliance team BVS Ltd removed some references to the misleading claims from tunit.co.uk but failed to make comprehensive amendments and the claims continued to appear across the website. As a result the CAP Compliance team took the decision on 24 October 2019 to place their company details on this section of the ASA website.

These details will remain in place until such a time as BVS Ltd has removed the claims from tunit.co.uk to comply with the CAP Code.
