Misleading Advertising: breaches the UK Ad Codes with false claims they are an accredited provider of LIBF CeMAP and offer official LIBF learning materials.

Rule 3.50 of the CAP Code requires that: Marketing communications must not display a trust mark, quality mark or equivalent without the necessary authorization….

The ASA investigated a complaint that Career Study College was claiming on the website to be an accredited provider of a LIBF CeMAP qualification, with their course using official LIBF learning materials, when this was not the case.

The text “FULL OFFICIAL LIBF ACCREDITED STUDY TEXT” and “Upon completion you will receive a certificate documenting that you are LIBF CeMAP Level 3 Certificate in Mortgage Advice qualified” appeared on the website. Career Study College did not provide a substantive response to the ASA’s enquiries to demonstrate their eligibility to display these elements.

The CAP Compliance team contacted Career Study College but the advertiser did not provide an assurance to comply with the Code and the ruling. In the absence of an appropriate response we took the decision on 19 November 2018 to place the company details on this section of the ASA website.

These details shall remain in place until such a time as Career Study College has removed claims on the website that they are an accredited provider of the LIBF CeMAP or that they offer official LIBF learning materials.
