Virtual Advice:AM | Insiders' Guide to the ASA & CAP

Overview

Tuesday 15th March 2022 | 10:00 - 11:30

Not too clear on what you need to know about UK ad regulation? This training course provides an essential foundation of how advertising regulation works.

Our expert trainers will provide an insight into the ASA and CAP system and will cover the key areas of the Advertising Codes to help you create compliant advertising campaigns. If you are new to advertising, or could just do with a refresher, this course will take you through the self-and co-regulatory structure, the way that the ASA handles complaints, and some of the main areas of regulation.

This course will take place virtually via Zoom, and will provide you with two CPD hours.

What will be covered?

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to who the ASA and CAP are, the work they do, and their role within the industry.

During this session, you will:

  • Gain an insight into the work of the ASA and CAP and the difference between the CAP and BCAP Code.
  • Receive an overview of the TV and radio advertising rules, as well as for the internet, magazines and newspapers, billboards, and other non-broadcast media.
  • Get the inside track on the ASA complaints process and the sanctions that the ASA can issue.
  • Identify what is within the ASA's remit and what falls outside the remit.
  • Learn about the issues that need to be considered when producing socially responsible ads.

Our trainers will use real-life case studies and examples of ASA rulings to help illustrate the rules. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an in-depth Q&A session with the ASA and CAP experts.

Who should attend?

This online training event is a great introduction to the CAP Advertising Code. This is particularly of use if you are new to advertising, legal, or compliance and would like to find out how the rules are applied. Or if you're an old-hand, but could do with a bit of a refresh, this session will remind you of the key things to consider when you're putting together an advertising campaign.
