Curious about how UK advertising regulation really works? Whether you’re just starting out or want to refresh your knowledge, this session offers a practical introduction on how the system works.
In this course our expert trainers will guide you through the role of the ASA and CAP, explain how the Advertising Codes are applied across different media, and show you how the system supports responsible advertising. You’ll also learn how complaints are handled and what steps you can take to make sure your campaigns meet the rules from the outset.
Whether you work in marketing, legal or compliance, this session will give you the confidence to create campaigns that not only stand out but are compliant with the rules.
What will be covered?
Get a practical, insider’s view of who the ASA and CAP are, what we do, and how our work impacts the industry.
In this session, you’ll:
- Gain an insight into the work of the ASA and CAP and the difference between the CAP and BCAP Code.
- Receive an overview of the TV and radio advertising rules, as well as for the internet, magazines and newspapers, billboards, and other non-broadcast media.
- Get the inside track on the ASA complaints process and the sanctions that the ASA can issue.
- Identify what is within the ASA's remit and what falls outside the remit.
- Learn how to avoid ads that may cause offence or harm.
- Explore how to create socially responsible advertising that avoids common pitfalls.
You’ll also see real ASA rulings brought to life through case studies and have the chance to ask your own questions during an interactive Q&A with our experts.
Who should attend?
This course is ideal for:
- Marketers, copywriters and creatives who want to understand the ad rules from the inside out.
