Virtual Advice:AM | Responsible Gambling Advertising

Overview

Thursday 07 May 2026 | 10.00 am -11.30 am
Live on Zoom | 2 CPD hours

Since the Gambling Act 2007, gambling advertising has been under growing scrutiny, and expectations on advertisers continue to rise. Getting it wrong can mean wasted spend, reputational damage, and regulatory action.

This practical virtual training is designed to help you get it right first time. You’ll gain a clear, working understanding of the Advertising Codes and what they mean for your day-to-day campaigns, so you can plan, create and sign off gambling ads with confidence. Our experts will break down the key rules, including the ‘strong’ appeal rule introduced in October 2022, and explain how they are applied in real situations.

You’ll explore recent ASA rulings, understand the reasoning behind decisions, and learn how to spot and fix common compliance risks before your ads go live. You’ll also earn two CPD hours and come away with practical tips you can use immediately to support responsible and compliant advertising.

The session will be delivered live on Zoom. The course also includes access to our eLearning module, An Insider’s Guide to the ASA and CAP, giving you an insight into the ASA and CAP system ahead of the session so you can get the most value from the training.

What will be covered?

  • Understand the key principles of the gambling advertising rules and apply them with confidence.
  • Learn what types of behaviour and imagery are acceptable in gambling ads.
  • Understand the rules designed to protect children and young people from harm.
  • Spot and avoid claims that suggest gambling can be a solution to financial concerns.
  • Understand restrictions on when and to whom gambling ads can be shown.
  • Get clear guidance on the implications of the ‘strong’ appeal rule.
  • Review real ASA rulings and see how the rules are applied in practice.
  • Ask questions and get expert advice in an interactive Q&A session.
