As an annual tradition we’ll be at the Trading Standards conference from 18- 20 June raising awareness of our work, remit and sanctions with Trading Standards officers from across the country.
As misleading advertising represents the bulk of our workload it’s important that Trading Standards officers see the ASA as the first port of call for consumers and businesses for any advertising issues.
As well as giving a refresh of the ASA system, remit and sanctions it’ll be an opportunity to talk about our 2011 online remit extension, and progress to date. We’ll also be updating on the upcoming changes to the consumer protection landscape, as the National Trading Standards Board steps up to become our new backstop for misleading advertising.
Our Chief Executive Guy Parker will be discussing this in a short presentation ‘Trading Standards and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA): our new partnership to prevent misleading advertising’ on Wednesday 19 June from 9.20 – 9.50 in meeting room 8.
Otherwise our team will be available at Stand H7 over the course of the conference to answer questions, explain our top priorities around misleading advertising, and hand out useful literature such as our ‘Making a complaint’ form.
We’ll also be promoting a fantastic competition to win an APPLE iPad (Retina display - 4th generation - WiFi only- 16 GB). To be in with a chance to win you’ll need to answer our competition question at Stand H7 (see Terms and conditions).
We hope you have a great conference, and remember you can get in touch if you have any questions.
