ParentPort, the website for parents set up by media regulators including the ASA, has joined forces with Mumsnet and Netmums as part of its ongoing commitment to helping ensure parents can make their voices heard about media content they find inappropriate for children.

Mumsnet has launched a dedicated ParentPort talk page which will encourage parents to enter into debates on key issues surrounding children and media standards as well as providing information about and access to the ParentPort site. Netmums has started a new talk board entitled “Keeping your kids media safe” which will also feature information, and links to, ParentPort.

We want anyone who has concerns or comments about the media and children to use these online forums. We also encourage parents, grandparents, guardians and carers to visit ParentPort and to take advantage of the “have your say” facility which will bring any issues you want to raise directly to the attention of the appropriate regulator.

ParentPort will also shortly be launching a survey on its own site to explore parents’ views on the broad issues underpinning our work.
