The Gambling Commission was set up under the Gambling Act 2005 to regulate commercial gambling in Great Britain. The Commission is sponsored by DCMS and determines the License Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP) which set out the rules that Licensees must observe.

While the ASA is responsible for handling gambling related ad complaints, we may refer licence holders to the Gambling Commission or Ofcom should there be serious or repeated breaches of the Ad Codes.

Examples of the types of activities and products the Gambling Commission regulates includes:

  • Bingo
  • Betting
  • Gaming machines
  • Online gambling
  • Gambling software
  • The National Lottery
