Recruiting for three Members for the Advertising Advisory Committee

The independent Advertising Advisory Committee (AAC) is looking to recruit three Members. The present role holders are nearing the end of their appointed terms.

Members (x3) £8,060 a year plus expenses
Start date: January 2024

The AAC provides independent advice to the Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP), authors of the UK Advertising Codes. The Codes are enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority. The AAC’s advice helps CAP to shape rules and guidance, ensuring advertisements do not mislead, harm or seriously offend their audience. Please see our summary information about these bodies, the role of the AAC and its composition:

The AAC has six scheduled meetings a year. The Chair and Members advise on behalf of citizens and consumers and participate as individuals and not as representatives of organisations. They must be independent from the advertising and marketing business.

The three new Members will begin their roles from 1 January 2024. They will serve a three-year period, with the expectation that it be extended for another three years. The members will receive a sum of £8,060 a year plus expenses.

The AAC welcomes applications from candidates of any race, gender, sexual orientation, religion or belief, from people with disabilities and from those who live or work in any part of the UK. Indeed, we welcome well qualified candidates of any age who are able to devote the necessary time to the work.

All members of the Committee are different and bring differing experience, knowledge and abilities. The Chair’s decision on appointments is final.
