The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP) share the Government’s commitment to protect young people from irresponsible alcohol advertisements.

The UK's advertising rules for alcohol are amongst the strictest in the world. In recent years they have been significantly tightened and subject to full public consultation in light of the best available Government-commissioned evidence about the impact of alcohol advertising.

The rules are independently and robustly administered by the ASA and we train and advise the industry to make sure the rules are understood and followed. We will carefully consider evidence from the Government that supports the need for further protection.
