Background

Misleading Advertising: FW3 Ltd t/a Washroom Hub breaks UK advertising rules for making misleading efficacy claims for a “BioZone Mini PowerZone Portable Air & Surface Steriliser” device to destroy coronavirus cells on the www.washroomhub.co.uk website.

The ASA has previously investigated an ad for a similar device and assessed the evidence for such claims and ruled that the claims were unsubstantiated.

The CAP Compliance team contacted FW3 Ltd, which provided a response but it did not provide evidence that exceeded the position of that assessed in the ASA’s previous investigation. In the absence of an assurance to amend its advertising, the CAP Compliance team took the decision on 16 November 2021 to place its company details on this section of the ASA website.

Because of FW3 Ltd’s continued non-compliance, we took the decision on 27 March 2024 to reissue its company details on this section of the ASA website.

These details shall remain in place until such time as FW3 Ltd has appropriately amended their advertising on the www.washroomhub.co.uk website to comply with the CAP Code.
