Misleading advertising: Person(s) unknown trading as Healthy-You breaks UK advertising rules for making misleading efficacy claims about its detox foot patches on the website.

CAP and the ASA understand that the body’s liver and kidneys automatically detoxify and excrete many toxic materials, including metabolic wastes. To date, neither CAP nor the ASA have seen evidence that foot patches can remove toxins from the body.

The ASA has previously investigated an ad for a similar product and in the absence of evidence to support the claim that the detox patches aided detoxification, ruled that it was misleading.

Several unsubstantiated efficacy claims were made on the website including that detox patches can remove accumulating toxins from your body” and help the body eliminate “brain fog, irritability, skin problems, muscle aches, body odor, insomnia, exhaustion, constipation, headaches, stubborn weight, anxiety and depression and hormonal abnormalities.”

The CAP Compliance team contacted Healthy-You but, in the absence of an assurance to amend their website to comply with the Code, took the decision on 4 January 2023 to place their company details on this section of the ASA website.

These details shall remain in place until such time as Healthy-You has removed or appropriately amended the health-related claims on to ensure compliance with the CAP Code.
