The Compliance team looked at a wide range of websites in eight broad sectors in 2008 as well as in 2011, two months before the ASA’s remit was extended to include companies’ marketing claims on their own websites.
Following the remit extension, another survey was undertaken in 2012, to determine the amount of marketing claims on companies’ websites and in other non-paid-for space online under their control that are sticking to the rules.
